AI & Sustainability: A Critical Exploration
For our forthcoming book on AI and sustainability, published by Springer as part of the Frontiers of Artificial Intelligence, Ethics and Multidisciplinary Applications series, we are seeking contributors from all geographic regions. While a scientific background is not required, all submissions must adhere to scientific rigour. We welcome perspectives from diverse fields and experiences to enrich this important dialogue. Join us in exploring the intersection of AI and sustainability to shape an informed and sustainable future.
Scope: The book will offer current perspectives on AI in the context of sustainability, aiming to identify sustainable uses of AI and how it can contribute to achieving ambitious sustainability goals. It challenges the paradigm of AI's transformative potential for economies and links it to societal transitions and planetary boundaries. The book calls for holistic assessments, bringing together global voices to shape the future discourse. It offers a comprehensive approach to integrating AI across sectors to promote environmental stewardship, economic resilience, and social equity, with practical solutions, diverse insights, case studies, and policies from around the world. It also considers AI and sustainability in the context of evolving global power dynamics. The book is divided into four main sections, each designed to guide the reader through the complex interplay between AI and sustainability. Throughout the book, we aim to:
- Identify Commons: Contribution to a shared language for AI and sustainability.
- Feature Global Voices: Offering diverse insights and case studies from around the world.
- Invite Holistic Assessments: Examine AI across sectors and system boundaries for comprehensive sustainability analysis.
